STUDIO POLICIES

REGISTRATION FEES: The annual registration fee is $25 per family and is non-refundable. This is required at the time of registration to hold you placement in class. If you have preregistered your dancer for the next season prior to the completion of the recital a $10 credit will be applied to your account towards the first months tuition. Payment of dance tuition verifies the acceptance of these conditions of enrollment and the policies of Spotlight Studio.

COVID: This information is fluid and will continue to be updated if things change. We will be entering classes through the front door of your designated studio. Please do NOT arrive early and wait in your car until invited in. As we get used to our new schedules we will be ending class 10 minutes early to allow for a smooth transition between classes and the opportunity for us to sanitize. As the weeks go on we will only be ending class 5 minutes early. Masks will be optional. We will only be allowing parents in to the classroom to observe every 6 weeks. Please see our yearly calendar for these dates. Thank you for your understanding as the health and safety of our dancers and instructors are incredibly important to us.

TUITION: Monthly tuition discounts are based on each individual student. Payments are to be placed in the payment box in the lobby on or before the first class of each month. A $10 late fee will be applied to your account after the 15th of the month if tuition has not been received. Monthly tuition is the same each month regardless of the number of classes, holidays, or student absences. There are no refunds given for missed or cancelled classes. Missed classes due to holidays or absences are encouraged to make up in a suggested equivalent class. There is a $20 service charge for any returned checks. We do not redeposit returned checks. The convenient option to have the monthly tuition automatically charged to a major credit card on the first of each month is available to help avoid late fees. To discontinue use of the automatic payment option let the studio know in writing prior to the next month.

CANCELATIONS: If Lucas County is at a Level 2 warning or higher, classes will be cancelled. Classes closed due to weather will be posted on local news stations, Facebook, and the studio website.

COSTUME FEES: Each dancer choosing to participate in the annual dance recital is required to pay a $85 costume deposit for each class. The costume deposit is non-refundable. A late fee of $10 will be applied to your account if the costume deposit is received after the deadline. Any portion of this fee that is unused towards a costume will be credited back to your account. Costume fees must be paid in full before the dancer is allowed to take the costume home. All efforts will be made to keep the costume costs appropriate but there is always a possibility that the cost of the costume may exceed the $85 deposit. Overages will be applied to your account.

COMMUNICATION: There will be little to no time for questions between classes. As one class ends another begins. All questions and communications should be done via phone 419-308-4532 or email spotlightstudiodance@gmail.com. Responses will be as prompt as possible. Look for newsletters, memos and updates in the studio lobby. Spotlight Studio will send out necessary emails for information, details of events, and reminders on a regular basis.

OBSERVATION: Parents are welcome to observe classes every 6 weeks. The space and number of seats are limited so be courteous to each other. Keep conversation to a minimum while classes are in session. Students are able to be dropped off and picked up. For security reasons we ask that parents walk their child into the building. Spotlight Studio is not responsible for providing care before and/or after classes. Students will not be allowed to wait outside for their ride but should be instructed to wait inside the building.

PERSONAL ITEMS: Spotlight Studio is not responsible for any items that are lost, stolen, or damaged. Lost and found will be in the dressing room. Any items left unclaimed at the end of the season will be donated to Goodwill.

CLASS PROCEDURE: All students are to arrive on time for the start of class, dressed in proper dance attire, proper shoes and have their hair neatly pulled back off their face. A technical dance warm-up is done at the beginning of each class and is designed to build dance technique and reduce the risk of injury. If a student is late and misses the warm-up they may be asked to sit out and observe the remainder of class. This will be determined by the instructor. It is a huge distraction to the entire class when dancers leave in the middle of class to use the restroom. Students ages 2 ½ -6 should be escorted by their parent or guardian to the bathroom BEFORE the start of each class.

CLASSROOM BEHAVIOR: It is important that every student has a fun and educational environment in which to learn in. Each student will be treated with kindness and respect. It is expected that each student will in turn do the same. Each student should follow these simple rules:
• Pay attention to your instructor. Do not be distracted or have conversations with parents who are observing. Do not talk to other students while class is in session.
• Food and drinks are not permitted on the dance floor. Food and drink are allowed in the waiting area only. Bring your own water bottle for drink breaks. It is your responsibility to clean up spills and to dispose of your trash properly. There is no gum allowed in the classroom.
• Cell phones are not allowed in class. Focus must be on the class.
• Do not pull or hang on the dancing barres because this could be dangerous. The barres are used for balance and support.
• Come prepared and ready for class. Following the dress code is important to proper dance education. Students are expected to wear appropriate dance attire and to have the proper shoes and hairstyle. Inappropriate dress or behavior will not be tolerated.

CONVENTIONS AND OTHER ACTIVITIES: Throughout the year students will have the opportunity to participate in community activities and performances. These could include conventions and local events such as festivals and parades. We encourage all students to take advantage of these wonderful opportunities. Specific information including costs will be provided in advance of each event. Any and all fees must be paid in full prior to the event.
